AI data licensing

Your company's records have buyers now.

AI companies are paying established businesses to license their operating records, so they can train AI on how real work gets done. We find out what you have and which buyer fits, then stay with you until you're paid.

Why now

AI agents are being trained on how real companies work.

AI labs are building agents that schedule, quote, invoice and answer customers. To train them they need records of how working companies actually run, and those records aren't on the public web. So buyers pay the companies that have them, and they pay most while each industry is still missing from their data.

$1Bcommitted by micro1 alone to licensing company data over twelve months (The Next Web, October 2026)

What buyers want

The ordinary records of a business that has been running for years.

Years of records.

Job histories, estimates, invoices, support tickets and email threads, ideally across several systems and several years.

How decisions get made.

The notes that show why a job was priced the way it was or why a schedule changed. Buyers can’t find that reasoning on the public web.

Documented process.

SOPs, checklists, training manuals and internal wikis. Old and messy is fine, as long as it is how the work really runs.

Who qualifies

Established, US-based, with years of records in the software you already use.

20 or more full-time staff.

Handshake starts at 20 with three years in operation. micro1 looks for 30 or more, and Scale AI prefers 40.

Several years on record.

Records spread across the software you already run on: accounting, scheduling or job management, email, shared drives.

US-based, mostly in English.

Buyers start with US companies whose records are mainly in English, then other Western markets.

How it works

From the first check to the payment landing.

  1. 01

    Check

You tell us your headcount, years in business and the software you run on. We reply with whether you qualify and with which buyers.

  2. 02

    Inventory

A short call with you and whoever runs the office. We map what records you have, where they live, and what should stay out, such as client contracts and employee files.

  3. 03

    Match

We compare the buyers you qualify for on price, exclusivity, payment terms and what happens to the data afterwards, and recommend one.

  4. 04

    Apply

You register and apply with the buyer directly. We sit with you while you do it and prepare you for their calls.

  5. 05

    Review

We go through the offer with you: the price, when it is paid, how long the license lasts and what is excluded. Your attorney has the final word.

  6. 06

    Deliver

The buyer connects to your systems, strips names and personal details, and checks the data. We keep it moving until the payment lands.

The terms

You keep your records. The buyer pays for our work.

What you keep
  • Ownership of your records
  • Your systems, unchanged day to day
  • The right to leave out client, employee and confidential material
  • Final approval on every agreement
How we are paid

The buyer pays us, not you.

When a deal closes, the buyer pays BLACKSIG a referral fee, either a fixed amount or a percentage of the license. There is no fee to your company. We are independent of every buyer and work on your side of the deal.

Questions

About licensing your data.

Read the guides
Can I really license my company’s data to AI companies?

Yes. AI companies such as micro1, Mercor, Scale AI and Handshake run programs that pay established businesses to license their operating records, which they use to train AI agents on how real work gets done. micro1 alone has committed $1 billion over twelve months to buying company data, according to The Next Web in October 2026.

How much do companies get paid?

It depends on how many years of records you have, how many systems they span and how much of the reasoning behind your work they show. micro1 publishes tiers starting at $100,000 and running past $2 million for qualified companies. Smaller companies with fewer systems are often paid in the tens of thousands. The buyer sets the number after reviewing what you have.

Am I selling my data?

No. You license it and keep ownership. Read the term carefully, though: some licenses are perpetual, and a model already trained on your records keeps what it learned even after a license ends. We walk you through those terms before you sign.

What stays out?

Names, phone numbers, addresses and other personal details are stripped by the buyer before any AI lab sees the data. You can also leave out whole categories, and some should never go in: material you hold under a client contract or NDA, HR and payroll records, health information, and call recordings made without consent.

How long does it take to get paid?

Usually two to four months from the first call to payment. Mercor says it typically pays two to four weeks after signing. micro1 takes up to 30 days to review delivered data and then pays within 30 days of the invoice.

What does this cost my company?

Nothing. When a deal closes, the buyer pays BLACKSIG a referral fee, either a fixed amount or a percentage of the license. We are independent of every buyer and work on your side of the deal.

Do my employees need to know?

We recommend telling them. Their emails and messages may be part of what is licensed, even with names removed, and hearing it from you first is better than reading about it later.
